I ran a small garden hose down the filler neck and it was difficult to advance after about one foot. The last two fuelings I had problems both times when trying to fill with the gauge showing one fourth tank. I don't know if these two things are related. At the same time we started experiencing this problem, it seems the fuel gauge began to stay between full and half for a very long time, then when you go below half full, it falls very rapidly, especially the last quarter tank. This problem does not happen on a predictable basis, except perhaps more prone to when refueling with a tank that is near half full. This is not the first time I have seen a Dodge vehicle catch fire and burn to the ground from a fuel line failure. My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan purchased used in 2003 started having a problem with the fuel backing up into the filler neck when fueling. Had I not been able to get out and away from the vehicle in time, I could have been killed. The van is a total and complete loss and is now a burned out shell. A man who pulled over to help me tried to put out the flames, but he said there was a flaming puddle under the van and a line of fire coming down from the undercarriage and he said it was a broken fuel line. I looked in the side view mirror and there was smoke and flames coming from underneath the van. I put my flashers on and came to a stop off the side of the road. There was smoke coming out of the back of the van and underneath, and a very strong smell of gasoline. Today, 13 Sep 09, while I was driving home from work on my normal route, I suddenly lost power and had to pull over.
